Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans converted a record-setting touchdown in Week 11 putting him at the top of the franchise's history. In their Monday night win against the New York Giants, the 28-year old scored his 72nd total career touchdown making Tom Brady and the rest of the defending champions proud.
Evans, obviously, couldn't help but keep his joy after an impressive feat that no one has ever done wearing a Buccaneers jersey.
“I’m very proud of that accomplishment. Hopefully, I can extend it really far. A-Train was an unbelievable player & I’m happy to be in the same sentence with him – let alone break his record.” Evans said as he broke the previous record-holder Mike Alstott's 71-TD mark (via Chris Torello of Spectrum Sports 360).
The three-time Pro Bowler has been on an unbelievable journey as a long-time member of the Bucs. After being picked as Tampa Bay's seventh overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Evans has made a name for himself as one of the toughest WRs in the league – especially over the past few years. And, with guys like Brady and Rob Gronkowski arriving last season, Evans was given a chance to shine as he helped set the tone for the Bucs' offense going all the way to claim the franchise's first Super Bowl championship in almost two decades.
Alstott's touchdown record has been rather untouchable over the past twenty years and now, the franchise has a new touchdown king in Mike Evans as he cements his name as one of the best WRs to ever play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
