Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady chided Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers after it was announced Brady and 2021 PGA Championship-winner Phil Mickelson would be squaring off against Rodgers and Bryson DeChambeau in The Match 3.
Brady labeled the matchup the “old bucks against the young guys” before seemingly taking a humorous pot shot at Rodgers. The Buccaneers star told DeChambeau–who is No. 1 on the PGA Tour in driving distance–to “get used to laying up” because Rodgers “isn't going for it.”
Two old guys against the young bucks @PhilMickelson. @b_dechambeau better get used to laying up because we know @AaronRodgers12 isn’t going for it 🤣 https://t.co/f1DQsFn41U

There is sure to be plenty of trash talk between the parties ahead of this summer's epic showdown. Brady and Mickelson in particular have plenty of ammo to work with.
Article Continues BelowRodgers might have won the 2020 NFL MVP, but Brady led the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl title in his first season in Tampa Bay. DeChambeau won last year's U.S. Open at Winged Foot, but Mickelson just became the oldest player to win a major championship following this past weekend's triumph at Kiawah Island.
Moreover, Brady has been involved in one of these before. The Buccaneers signal-caller previously teamed with Mickelson to take on Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning in the second rendition of The Match, though he and Phil were the losers in that one.
Will Brady and Mickelson get the win this time around? Despite the early trash talk, Rodgers is a pretty good golfer. He and DeChambeau should make for quite the entertaining pairing.
Capital One's third iteration of The Match will take place on July 6 at Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Montana.
