Six-time All-Star forward Pau Gasol has bid his farewell to the San Antonio Spurs organization via a heartfelt tweet.

Pau Gasol and the Spurs had a mutual agreement on a contract buyout, making the two-time champion playoff eligible. He's set to sign with the Eastern Conference-leading Milwaukee Bucks for the rest of the season.

Gasol spent two years with the Spurs, as the franchise hoped to pair him with LaMarcus Aldridge. However, his stint with the franchise isn't what the team and the fans had hoped for, as it was marred with injuries. He was only able to play 27 games this season due to various injuries.

The Spurs tried to trade Gasol last month during the trade deadline, but no one was willing to absorb his large contract which eventually led to the buyout.

With the Bucks, Gasol is not expected to play significant minutes; however, his arrival brings championship experience to a team that is looking to contend for the Larry O'Brien trophy. Milwaukee is projected to make a deep run in this year's playoffs, and Gasol could end up meeting his brother Marc down the road. The younger Gasol was traded to the Toronto Raptors last month.

It is unclear if this will be Pau's final season in the NBA. The last couple of years obviously didn't go the way he wanted it to be, and now that his career has almost reached the finish line, he will likely evaluate his performance with the Bucks before making the decision to hang it up or not.

Gasol is just averaging 4.2 points and 4.7 rebounds this season.
