Free agent big man Pau Gasol has expressed his interest in re-signing with the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2019-20 season.

In an interview with Bleacher Report's Tim Daniels, the 38-year-old Spaniard said he's hopeful that he can get a contract with the Bucks this summer, as he believes the team has the potential to win a championship next year.

“I would be positive and I would like to continue with the Bucks of course. That's why I left San Antonio and I did to join this team, which I think has real potential to win the championship. It was close this season, we fell to Toronto in the playoffs. I don't know if my presence would have helped to beat Toronto or not.”

Gasol joined the Bucks earlier this year after he had an agreement of a contract buyout with the San Antonio Spurs. Unfortunately, he suffered a season-ending injury just before the playoffs began.

Pau only played three games for Milwaukee before the injury.

It is highly likely that the Bucks will give Gasol another shot. However, he's not going to be their priority in free agency as they plan to als0 re-sign starting center Brook Lopez, who has been great during their playoff run. Moreover, Nikola Mirotic is also going to hit the market this July. Milwaukee could bring all three back for next season, but the safe bet is only two of them will be wearing a Bucks jersey in October.

Gasol has already won two championships back when he was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers a decade ago, and he wants to win one more before he calls it a career.

Pau averaged 10 points and eight rebounds in 2017-18. However, injuries limited his production last season. If he will be able to remain healthy, he might have a significant impact on the Bucks' championship run next year.
