Zach LaVine is in the midst of a tremendous campaign for the Chicago Bulls. The 25-year-old has gotten much praise along the way, and as it turns out, he's left such a huge impression on Sacramento Kings head coach Luke Walton that he thinks LaVine should be a frontrunner for this season's Most Improved Player award.

The Bulls host the Kings on Saturday in the United Center, and prior to the game, Walton explained exactly why he believes LaVine should be a serious contender for the MIP trophy:

“To me, he's probably the frontrunner right now for Most Improved,” said Walton, via Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic. “And that's saying something because he was a really good player last year. He's playing at an All-Star level the way he's scoring the ball at all three levels.”

I see no lies here. Walton hit the nail on the head with his description of LaVine's current level of play and why the Bulls guard should be recognized for his efforts.

For what it's worth, LaVine is currently averaging across the board career-best numbers of 28.5 points (on 51.0 percent shooting), 5.5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists. He's also knocking down 3.5 triples per game on a 42.7-percent clip.

LaVine is the primary reason why the Bulls are in possession of a 12-16 record and are currently in contention for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference (they are currently just one game behind the eighth-seeded Charlotte Hornets).

Be that as it may, Walton will be hoping that his Kings are able to prevent Zach LaVine from another offensive explosion on Saturday night. Good luck.
