Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever take on the Los Angeles Sparks. Our WNBA odds series has our Fever Sparks prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Fever Sparks.

The Caitlin Clark professional debut season with the Indiana Fever still hasn't secured a victory. The Fever and the Washington Mystics are the only two winless teams in the league. They're both 0-5, which means they have both played one-eighth of their season without a win to show for it. Indiana and Washington, if they lose their next games to fall to 0-6, could then play .500 ball for the remainder of the season and finish 17-23, which might not be good enough for the playoffs. It's clear that the Fever are highly unlikely to make the postseason, which in some ways could be a good thing for this particular year. It's true that losing is a miserable experience, but at a certain point, the focus can shift from win-loss outcomes to player development and building traits which will serve this team well in the future.

The one thing Caitlin Clark and the Fever can point to — in spite of the steady stream of losses — is that they are competing well and playing opponents with toughness. They lost to the Connecticut Sun by four points this week and then lost to the Seattle Storm by only two. They are covering spreads, but they aren't winning straight up. Maybe this game against the Los Angeles Sparks will enable the Fever to finally break and enable Indiana to get healthy, in a manner of speaking.

Why The Fever Could Cover The Spread

Caitlin Clark and the Fever are getting closer and closer. They lost by just two points against the Seattle Storm in their most recent game. They had the ball with a chance to take the lead but lost the ball, got a tie-up, and then lost the jump ball to the Storm with under three seconds left. They're getting closer. Now they face the Sparks, who barely defeated the 0-5 Mystics in an ugly 70-68 game. If the Sparks are just two points better than the shorthanded Mystics, they might not be better than the Fever. Los Angeles scored just 70 points versus Washington. Indiana is averaging more than 70 points per game. The Fever might have enough offense to win this game. Los Angeles might not exploit Indiana's defensive weaknesses enough to compensate.

Why The Sparks Could Cover The Spread

The Sparks didn't play well against the Mystics, but they did win. Cameron Brink played great late-game defense to seal that win over Washington. The Sparks have to feel they can beat the lesser teams in the league. They just did so versus one of them. Why wouldn't they be able to beat the other bottom-rung team in the WNBA?

We should point out that the Fever are favored here. Why? Why should a bad team be favored on the road against an opponent which, by all appearances, doesn't seem to be quite as bad? It doesn't make sense.

Final Fever-Sparks Prediction & Pick

The Fever shouldn't be favored, but the Sparks are not a good team and shouldn't be viewed as any sort of lock. Just pass on this one, period.

Final Fever-Sparks Prediction & Pick: Sparks +2
