On Wednesday, the Arizona Cardinals restructured outside linebacker Chandler Jones' contract to where the team has an extra $4 million in cap space (to add to their roughly $7 million, per Over The Cap). If you expect that to correspond with another, potentially bigger, move, don't hold your breath.

Cardinals general manager Steve Keim insists there is nothing to look at pertaining to the situation. It's a restructure to save cap space down the line, that's it.

“You want to make sure you have some flexibility moving forward. I wouldn't read into that conversion,” said Keim, via the team's official website.

It's worth noting that Keim has kept quiet in the past, and insisted nothing would happen, only to see him make a big move. For instance, the lead-up to the Cardinals selecting Kyler Murray at No. 1; though heavily predicted, it was kept quiet as Josh Rosen was then on the roster.

However, the Cardinals don't appear poised to trade for a superstar player, at least not Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the team inquired about him but are not expected to make a deal.

According to Jess Root of USA Today, the restructure means the Cardinals gave Jones his $6 million bonus up-front, then will be paid $10.5 million over the rest of the 2019 season. The move means the Redbirds will take an extra cap hit of $2 million in 2020 and 2021, when he's under contract. The talented edge rusher will be a free agent after the 2021 season.
