Taylor Swift helped a fan out in the crowd during her set in Madrid. The Tortured Poets Department star is on the international leg of her Eras Tour, and while she was singing “Betty,” she spoke to a security guard on Thursday (May 30) to alert them that a fan was in trouble in the crowd.
“Ayuda por favor,” Swift said, speaking in Spanish, which translates to “please help” in English.
Swift performed back-to-back dates at Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on Wednesday, May 29, and Thursday, May 30.
Other Times Taylor Swift Has Helped Fans During Her Eras Tour
This is not the first time that Swift has alerted security to help fans during her concerts. Most recently, on May 24, during the pop star's concert last night (May 24) in Lisbon, Portugal, Swift called for security to help a fan in the audience.
“Ajuda por favor. Help them please,” is heard saying in a fan video in the direction of the fan. As of this writing, there is no information surrounding the cause of the fan's distress.
During her concerts, fans have banded together to help one another by drawing attention to the stage with their flashlights from their smartphones. Swift confirmed this was the reason why fans were shining their lights in a particular area of the crowd from the stage.
“When you guys are holding a bunch of flashlights up in a group does that mean people need help? Say yes if it means [that],” Swift asked the crowd which they responded. “OK, if I see that again I’m gonna try to put it out.”
Unfortunately, back in Brazil last year, a fan died during the singer's concert. According to a forensics report by the Associated Press, 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides died from heat exhaustion. Benevides passed out during “Cruel Summer,” the second song Swift had played during the Nov. 17 concert.
Time For Fun posted to X (formerly known as Twitter). According to the report, it was 40 degrees Celsius (105 Fahrenheit) and fans were not allowed to bring water into the venue.
However, T4F, an organizer for the concert, said that they “distributed thousands of bottles of water,” and one of Benevides' told a local media outlet that they were given water bottles while waiting in line.
Swift spoke about the incident via her Instagram Story and gave her condolences to the family.
“I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it’s with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show,” Swift began her handwritten note on her Instagram Story at the time.
“I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this,” she continued. “There’s very little information I have other than the fact she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.”
Swift will be touring throughout December 2024 and will return to the States in October.
