COVID-19 continues to be a huge problem throughout the United States due to unvaccinated people and the Delta Variant, among other factors. Unfortunately, Western Carolina football assistant coach John Peacock has become the latest casualty.
The program announced on Friday that Peacock suddenly passed away at just 32 years old.
On Saturday, John Peacock’s family revealed that he died from complications due to COVID-19 after testing positive just five days ago. He was also set to marry his fiancee in February of 2022, which makes this whole situation even more heartbreaking.
Peacock recently joined the Western Carolina program in the spring after leading NCAA Division II Valdosta State to a national championship in 2018. It’s unknown if John Peacock had any underlying health conditions or if he was vaccinated, but this shows how serious COVID-19 really is; it doesn’t matter how young you are. More children are starting to get infected by the virus as well, which is very, very concerning.
This should also be a wake-up call to the numerous NFL players who have been complaining about getting vaccinated due to the league’s new rules. This is a clear example of why they should all be getting both doses of the vaccine.
Rest in peace, John Peacock, and prayers to his family.
