Derwin James is looking to have a bounce-back season with the Los Angeles Chargers after being hindered by a foot ailment in 2019. During Sunday's practice with the team, James suffered another injury scare, leaving practice with a hamstring strain, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Nearly a year ago, James sustained a stress fracture on his right foot in training camp and would require surgery. The All-Pro safety would miss three months while rehabbing his foot and would suit up in just five games with the Chargers last season.

Provided that, fans of the Chargers are hoping that James can avoid another costly injury this season. While Schefter reports that James likely has a strained hamstring, it is unclear what the severity of his injury is. Until his results come back, fans will be anxiously waiting to see if James will miss any time.

From the moment James entered the NFL in 2018, it was apparent that he was a special talent at safety. As a rookie, the former Seminole notched 105 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and four tackles for loss. James also recorded 13 pass breakups and three interceptions in 2018 while starting in all 16 games as a rookie.

In his limited action in 2019, James tallied 34 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one pass breakup. Without a doubt, when he is healthy, James deserved to be mentioned as one of the most dominant safeties in the NFL.

The time is winding down for teams to prepare for the 2020 season, with the Chargers facing the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 13. Considering the Bengals could have a revamped offense with rookie Joe Burrow at the helm, Los Angeles is hoping to have James available in Week 1.
