The Los Angeles Chargers are in the midst of a postseason run as they continue to battle for playoff positioning. They are currently just one game behind the Kansas City Chiefs and look like one of the best teams in the AFC. Head coach Brandon Staley is in awe of Justin Herbert, as the young quarterback is taking over the NFL with his stellar play.

According to Kevin Patra, Staley believes “You're witnessing something rare,” when it comes to Justin Herbert. So much so, it might be time to consider Justin Herbert as a legitimate MVP candidate.

Staley goes as far as to break down exactly what he means by his “rare” comment, per Gilbert Manzano of the L.A. Daily News.

When you see something special, normally it looks easy. That's what he does. He makes the really, really challenging stuff look easy. And that's a pretty good indicator that you're witnessing something rare.”

It's absolutely true. The Chargers are in good hands as long as Justin Herbert is under center. He's taken the league by storm and plays the game fluidly. His 59-yard bomb for a touchdown was incredible. Not only did he make the long throw, but he made the play as he was getting hit.

Justin Herbert also left that game as the first player in NFL history to score at least 30 passing touchdowns in his first two seasons in the league. The Chargers quarterback has officially entered elite status and has proven himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

With the MVP race already close, Justin Herbert is making a case for himself after his strong performance so far. He won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award last season and could be taking home the MVP this year. We'll see how it plays out, but either way, the Chargers have their franchise quarterback.
