The Los Angeles Chargers came up short for the second week in a row with their overtime loss to the New Orleans Saints on Monday night. Although Justin Herbert managed to enjoy another stellar performance, it was the throw he failed to make that weighs most heavily on his mind.

Herbert offered up an apology to defensive end Joey Bosa for the missed throw during the 30-27 loss in Week 5. Bosa quickly forgave the rookie and reminded him of all he did to put the team in position to win, per Fernando Ramirez of Sports Illustrated:

Herbert had his work cut out going against a formidable Saints' team on primetime. Fortunately, he was able to rise to the occasion by throwing for 264 yards, four touchdowns and a 122.7 passer rating.

Perhaps even more impressive os the fact that Herbert managed to perform at a high level despite facing hounding pressure from the pass rush for New Orleans. He overcame being sacked three times and hit 12 times to keep the Chargers in position to win the game.

The fact that Herbert still felt responsible for not being able to pull out the win is indicative of the standards he has set for himself. fortunately, he is already doing his part by fitting the billing as the former sixth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The growing rapport between Bosa and Herbert is certainly an encouraging sign for fans since both players will be tasked with leading each side of the ball for years to come.
