After pulling off a huge trade to acquire Khalil Mack from the Chicago Bears, the Los Angeles Chargers continued their bid to upgrade the roster with the signing of cornerback JC Jackson.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Chargers are giving the former New England Patriots CB a five-year deal worth $82.5 million. The team had been rumored to be interested in the 26-year-old Pro Bowler, and that was made clear with the big money they splashed on him.

As reported earlier when the Chargers' heavy interest on JC Jackson surfaced, landing the star cornerback would make LA a real threat not only in the AFC West but also in the entire NFL. Having both Khalil Mack and Jackson gives them a strong defense that could terrorize opposing offenses all game long.

Not to mention that they already have their offense set with Justin Herbert leading the way. The 24-year-old has made huge strides in his second season in the league in 2021, and he looks primed for a breakout campaign sooner rather than later.

With the Chargers' roster getting major upgrades, the team could very well see itself contending for the Super Bowl.

Of course everything looks good on paper. But the Chargers know very well they have a ton of work to do to actually produce meaningful results. Still, it is great to have plenty of talents on the team, especially in the AFC West where there are tons of competition from the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos.
