Melvin Gordon has been making headlines for his outrageous proclamations over the season, but this last one is making pop culture headlines, too.

Gordon made the bold proclamation about being “the best running back in Los Angeles” to TMZ Sports.

This is a rather interesting proclamation, considering that Gordon comes from the same city that produced the Los Angeles Rams and Todd Gurley.

Gurley, we'll recall, quickly established himself as one of the best running backs in LA, and he's part of the reason his team is on its way to the Super Bowl.

But, according to Melvin Gordon, the “facts” about him being the best running back in Los Angeles has nothing to do with Gurley, and everything to do with how confident he is in his own game.

Gordon and Gurley were part of the same draft class back in 2015, and each went to a different team in Los Angeles.

According to Bleacher Report, however, Gordon isn't going to re-sign with the Chargers unless he sees what Le'Veon Bell is doing. He'd like to keep the team as much together as possible.

“I'm waiting. I'm sitting back waiting, waiting on [Le'Veon] Bell. I'm glad it's changing because we [running backs] were getting devalued for a little bit. But me, David Johnson, Todd Gurley, I can go down a whole list, Bell, you name it, Zeke, just game-changers, Alvin Kamara, all those guys.”

Melvin Gordon ran for 885 yards and 10 touchdowns in 12 games in 2018, adding 490 receiving yards and four touchdown receptions.
