Despite missing the playoffs once again, the Los Angeles Chargers managed to end the 2017 NFL season on a high note by winning six out of their last seven games. Part of the reason was the dynamic play of defensive ends Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram.

Although both had enjoyed stellar years, Bosa was a clear-cut Pro Bowl selection while his teammate had been named as a first alternate. However, with the Chargers' sack-leader nursing a finger injury, Ingram will get to appear in his first career Pro Bowl game, according to Ricky Henne of chargers.com:

On Tuesday, the league announced that number 54 will in fact be heading to Orlando.  He’ll replace Joey Bosa, who will miss the game as he recovers from a finger injury.

The news certainly comes to the delight of Chargers' fans who will essentially get to have their cake and eat it too. Bosa will receive credit for his first Pro Bowl selection while the team will still be well-represented at this year's game in Orlando. Ingram will be joining quarterback Philip Rivers, wide receiver Keenan Allen, and defensive back Casey Heyward on the trip.

An argument could be made that Ingram has been snubbed in year's past. Needless to say, he was more than deserving of his selection this time around after tying his career-high with 10.5 sacks to go with 56 tackles, 17 of which were for a loss. Although their debut season in Los Angeles did not go as planned, the Chargers can at least take solace in their bevy of young stars moving forward.
