For more than the last decade, Pro Bowl quarterback Phillip Rivers has been the steady factor under center for the Los Angeles Chargers. It has made running the offense through him the best option in helping push the team to success on the field.

Offseason addition tight end Virgil Green stated in an interview with Chargers.com that Rivers has allowed him to make that transition to his new surrounding quite easy.

“It hasn't been that tough because a guy like Phil knows what he wants and the coaches are all on board. When you have a place where everybody is on the same page and knows exactly what the quarterback wants because he has been doing it for so long. It's easy to adjust.”

Entering his 15th season in the NFL, Rivers is still playing some of the best football of his career as he's proven to be a top-tier quarterback. He has shown great command over the offense while demonstrating the ability to spread the ball around to many of his receiving options in the passing game. Green could quickly become one of those options for Rivers next season that could be a factor in the red zone.

Although the 29-year-old has primarily been used a blocking tight end, he could be in line for a highly productive campaign that dwarfs his 2017 season where he had just 14 catches for 191 receiving yards. The team is in the position of looking for stability at the spot with Hunter Henry out for the season due to a torn ACL and the front office looking to resolve this issue internally on the roster.

Nonetheless, this is a prime opportunity for Green to establish himself on the team while playing an essential role in the offensive game plan and Rivers is helping make that transition quite simple.
