The Kansas City Chiefs are heading into training camp with another opportunity to defend a Super Bowl winning season. When discussing the work that is required to stay on top, the Chiefs' Andy Reid used a farming metaphor for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, reports NFL on CBS.

“You can always work on something…it never, ever ends. You talk to the old veteran quarterbacks, they will say, ‘man, I wish I could have gotten better at that…', they were working on doing that, trying to get that into their game to try and make them greater than they already are.”

Andy Reid says like a farmer on a farm, there will always be work to be done, and the same will apply to Patrick Mahomes. He emphasizes that although Mahomes is as great as advertised, the only thing he can do now is continue to become greater.

It is a solid mindset not just for football but for life as well. Coming from Reid this is no surprise, as he is highly beloved around the NFL and there are countless anecdotes surrounding his wisdom and ability to bring the best out of people.

Reid, Mahomes and the Chiefs will have another tall task ahead of them this season with the rest of the NFL gunning for their throne. This comes with the territory of winning the Super Bowl, especially with how dominant the Chiefs have been over the last few seasons. Regardless, expect Patrick Mahomes to be like Andy Reid said and work like a farmer all season long in the quest of growing his already elite legacy.
