Believe it or not, the Kansas City Chiefs are in need of some offense, and they should be getting reinforcements on Thursday night against the Denver Broncos, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that wide receiver Sammy Watkins is likely to return from a hamstring injury.
Watkins suffered the injury late in last week's loss to the Indianapolis Colts and missed this past Sunday's defeat to the Houston Texans as a result.
The Chiefs have managed just 37 points over the last two games combined, and against the Colts, they posted just 13 points, their lowest output since November 2017.
Kansas City got fellow wide out Tyreek Hill back against the Texans, but it didn't matter, as Houston came away with a 31-24 victory at Arrowhead Stadium.
Of course, having both Hill and Watkins in the lineup at the same time, something the Chiefs have not had since the first quarter of Week 1, would be the ideal scenario.
On the season, Watkins has logged 23 catches for 365 yards and three touchdowns. He signed a three-year deal with Kansas City in March 2018, and in his first year with the club, he played in just 10 games due to injuries, finishing with 40 receptions for 519 yards and three scores.
The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Clemson, was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills with the fourth overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.
Watkins spent his first three seasons with the Bills, posting one 1,000-yard campaign in 2015. He was then traded to the Los Angeles Rams, where he resided for one disappointing year before signing with the Chiefs.
