Patrick Mahomes seemed excited after ESPN’s Adam Schefter announced that the Kansas City Chiefs are signing former Bears’ Pro Bowl guard Kyle Long to a one-year deal worth $5 million. Long, a veteran offensive guard will be coming out of retirement to help the Chiefs make it back to the Super Bowl and Mahomes reaction was simple.

Schefter also confirmed that the Chiefs are signing former New England Patriots left guard Joe Thuney to a five-year, $80 million contract. This is an indication that the Chiefs are looking to upgrade their offensive line this free agency to help Mahomes and the Chiefs’ quest to their second title.

Long, who was initially looking to sign with the Raiders, says that he has stayed in great shape throughout his retirement phase and is determined to get on the field once again. The 32-year-old mostly played right guard in his seven seasons with the Chicago bears but hasn’t played a full season since 2015.

Meanwhile, Thuney’s contract is the second-largest for a guard in the NFL. Thuney’s presence on the Chiefs will provide offensive versatility, speed, quick hands, and feet. He’s known to have an impressive hand technique and an exceptional run blocking skill, boosting the Chiefs’ offensive lineup.

Mahomes, who struggled on offense last Super Bowl, will hopefully get to see a more developed roster this season. Currently, the 2018 Most Valuable Player award is recovering from foot surgery but will be ready to go when Kansas City starts their revenge season. As for now, it's safe to say that the one-time NFL Super Bowl champion is happy with the team’s latest offseason additions.
