Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers doesn't know new superstar Kawhi Leonard that well yet, but the championship coach knows exactly the type of person he can be for the Clippers.

Rivers says Leonard is an unselfish guy who understands it takes everyone on the team to win the title, and is willing to be coached.

“But I don't know Kawhi yet,” Rivers said, via Ramona Shelburne of ESPN. “We're learning each other. The two things that have stood out for so far — and he actually did it again when he was up on stage, where he talked about, ‘It's not just us two, all 15 have to buy into their role' — is his understanding of accepting roles.

“The second is how many times he said, ‘You know, you can coach me.' I don't know how many times he said this, when we were looking at a play, where he said, ‘Coach, whatever you run, I'm running.' He kept saying, ‘You know, you can coach me.' “

Not every superstar in the NBA likes to be coached. Kawhi Leonard isn't one of them. The two-time Finals MVP figures to get along with Doc Rivers a lot better than Chris Paul did during the “Lob City” era.

The Clippers are title contenders for the first time in franchise history with Leonard and Paul George in the mix. The more Rivers gets to know Leonard and George, the better the chemistry will be in Los Angeles.
