The Los Angeles Clippers are one of the two most likely free-agent destinations for big man Al Horford, according to Steve Bulpett of The Boston Herald. The Dallas Mavericks, as previously reported, are the other most probable landing spot.

The Clippers would make perfect sense for Horford if they can land Kawhi Leonard, as it would give them a pair of All-Star players to go along with a young core that includes Montrezl Harrell and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Horford was originally expected to re-sign with the Celtics, but talks fell apart when Horford's camp was rumored to discover that there will be $100 million offers out there for Horford this summer.

With Horford turning 33 years old and Boston's timeline changing drastically after failing to acquire Anthony Davis and with the likelihood that Kyrie Irving will be signing elsewhere, Boston was evidently unwilling to match those types of offers for the five-time All-Star.

Horford is coming off of a 2018-19 campaign in which he played 68 games and averaged 13.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.3 blocks over 29 minutes per game while shooting 53.5 percent from the floor, 36 percent from three-point range and 82.1 percent from the free-throw line.

He originally signed with the Celtics during the summer of 2016 and helped lead Boston to back-to-back Eastern Conference Finals appearances in 2017 and 2018, making the All-Star team during the 2017-18 campaign.

Horford, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Florida, was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the third overall pick of the 2007 NBA Draft and went on to spend the first nine years of his career with the Hawks.
