The LA Clippers could be a potential dark horse in the Andre Iguodala sweepstakes, as other teams like the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers have keenly put eyes on his situation with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies have been determined not to pursue a buyout with Iguodala, fully cognizant that it could quickly convert into a painless signing with his team of preference. Instead, they will use him as an asset they can trade, in search of more draft picks.

NBC Sports' Tom Haberstroh lined up a potential trade that would send the newly acquired Moe Harkless along with a future asset in exchange for Iguodala. Bill Simmons of The Ringer chipped in with a version of his own: Harkless’s expiring contract, Jerome Robinson, three second-round picks and $3 million in cash considerations.

Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated suggested the Clippers have eyes for Iguodala:

The Clippers seem pretty unlikely to give up a future asset for an aging veteran who could soon be pondering retirement in the near future, much like former teammate Shaun Livingston has through the course of this offseason.

LA already gave up an NBA-record five first-round draft picks to deal for Paul George, mortgaging the future for immediate results with George and Kawhi Leonard at the forefront of it all.

The only way the Clippers may be willing to part with the few assets they have left is if they feel Iguodala is the lone missing piece from their puzzle. But at 35 years old, with a history of injuries and load management, and the prospect of losing him after one season, it's likely to be a last-ditch proposition to try to trade for him.

Instead, if the stalemate lasts long enough and Iguodala agrees to a buyout, the Clippers could look to pick him up for cheap without the need to give up any more assets in return.
