The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets take on the Clemson Tigers. Check out our college basketball odds series for our Georgia Tech Clemson prediction and pick. Find out how to watch Georgia Tech Clemson.

The Clemson Tigers are leading the ACC standings in late January. No one predicted that. No one saw that coming. The Tigers have built their lead in the ACC on the basis of a consistent ability to win close games. The latest example was a 51-50 win over Virginia Tech on Saturday. Coach Brad Brownell has guided the Tigers expertly in late-game situations. The Tigers are organized and don't get beaten on defense in the final few minutes of regulation. Three of Clemson's eight ACC wins have been by three points or fewer. An eight-point win over Duke was closer than that final margin for a good portion of that game against the Blue Devils. It will be fascinating to see if the Tigers can hold off all challengers in the second half of the ACC regular season. Brownell, who has been on the hot seat at times in his Clemson career but has been shown great patience by the school's administration, could chase down his first ACC regular-season title, which would be quite an accomplishment if he can attain it.

Why Georgia Tech Could Cover the Spread

This is a good Clemson team, but no one would call it a great team. As well as Clemson has played, and as well as this season has progressed for the Tigers, it is still worth noting that they have not yet gone through the teeth of their ACC schedule. They still haven't played North Carolina. They still haven't played Miami. They still haven't played Virginia. There is a lot more to learn about this Clemson team, and before learning about the Tigers' new dimensions, there is still reason to be skeptical about them, their ceiling, and what they can truly achieve. One can make the case that Georgia Tech getting more than 10 points is a generous spread, even on the road in Clemson's Littlejohn Coliseum. Clemson did beat Louisville (the worst team in the ACC) at home by 13, but that was a closer game for a good portion of the proceedings. Clemson is getting a little too much respect with the point spread. Tech can cover it.

Why Clemson Could Cover the Spread

The Tigers are consistent. They're 8-1 in the ACC. They beat Georgia Tech by 13 in the last meeting between these teams back in December. If they win by 13 here, they will cover the spread. Clemson's only loss in ACC play was at Wake Forest, on a night when the Demon Deacons got hot and stayed hot, scoring 87 points against a normally good Clemson defense. The Tigers have also shown an ability to win different kinds of games. They are 5-1 in ACC games in which they have scored at least 75 points, but they have also won two ACC games when scoring under 70 points. They can win ugly. They can win pretty. The bottom line is that they just win, and they have won four of their eight ACC victories by double-digit margins. They win close games, but they can also win comfortably and cover the spread.

Final Georgia Tech-Clemson Prediction & Pick

Stay away from this game. Clemson will win outright, but the spread is well-placed and not easy to bet on in either direction.

Final Georgia Tech-Clemson Prediction & Pick: Clemson -10.5
