The Oklahoma Sooners will take on the Texas Longhorns in one of the best matchups of Week 6 in college football. It's time to continue our college football odds series and make an Oklahoma-Texas prediction and pick based on Oklahoma Texas odds.

The Red River Showdown is usually one of the most anticipated college football games of the year, and this season is no exception. Both teams have plenty at stake here, but Oklahoma has more to lose. The Sooners are currently ranked as the sixth-best team in the nation, and a win against a ranked Texas team would be a huge boost to their playoff chances. The Longhorns will be playing in a bowl game at the end of the season, and a win here could dramatically improve the status of that bowl game. Defeating the Sooners would also crush any playoff hopes that Oklahoma still has, which is always an added bonus in a rivalry game.

Here's how the bookmakers have set the lines for Saturday's matchup.

Why Oklahoma Could Cover The Spread

It's strange to say, but Oklahoma's defense is their strength this season. This unit has been great, allowing only 23.8 points per game and 2.9 yards per carry on the year. This is clearly on of the nation's best run defenses, which is perfect considering their matchup. The Texas offense is run through superstar running back Bijan Robinson, so stopping him is the key to this game. The Sooners still haven't allowed an opposing runner to put up more than 60 yards in a game, so expect this defense to put together another strong showing against Robinson in this one.

The Longhorns haven't been nearly as good as the Sooners at defending the run. They're giving up a whopping 4.7 yards per carry to go along with 172 rushing yards allowed per game. Oklahoma has displayed a strong rushing attack, posting over 6.0 yards per carry in two separate contests this season. The Sooners should be able to run the ball at will, control the clock, and take some pressure off of quarterback Spencer Rattler.

Why Texas Could Cover The Spread

The Longhorns' offense looks like it's coming alive. Texas has scored 102 points over their last two contests, putting up points in a hurry behind newly-anointed starter Casey Thompson. Thompson is certainly an upgrade over Hudson Card, but the real offensive star is the aforementioned Bijan Robinson. Robinson has 652 rushing yards on the season on 6.2 yards per carry. Those are incredible numbers, and they indicate a level of play that will give Oklahoma problems. While the Sooners haven't allowed much on the ground, they've also only faced one rushing offense that ranks in the top 30 in the nation. This Texas ground game is on a different level than any opponent they've faced.

One of the first things that everyone associates the state of Texas with is football, and for good reason. The Longhorns have one of the best home field advantages in the entire nation, something that will surely come into play in this game. The Sooners have only played one game on the road this season, so coming into Austin will easily be the toughest environment that Oklahoma has faced.

Final Oklahoma-Texas State Prediction & Pick

This game will be a close one, but the Longhorns should cover at the very least. Texas is the biggest test of Oklahoma's season so far, and playing on the road will only hurt the Sooners. Take the Longhorns with confidence here.

FINAL PICK: Texas Longhorns +3 1/2 (-110)
