The Pittsburgh Panthers will face the Syracuse Orange in an ACC battle on Saturday. It's time to continue our college football odds series and make a Pittsburgh-Syracuse prediction and pick.

These two ACC rivals have had vastly different seasons. Pittsburgh has exceeded every single preseason expectation that was set for them and now look poised to win the conference behind Heisman Trophy hopeful Kenny Pickett. The offense has been electric, and the defense has done just enough to earn the Panthers a 9-2 record.

Meanwhile, the Orange have been mediocre at best this season. The offense just hasn't been able to get much going all year, and the defense has been solid overall but has given up some big numbers in a few key games.

Pitt still needs a win here to play for the ACC title, so this game definitely has some meaning for them. Let's get into the pick for this ACC battle.

Why Pittsburgh Could Cover the Spread

This is a pretty easy section to cover. Pittsburgh has been one of the best offenses in the nation behind Pickett, earning an average of 40 points per game. That number is good for fifth-best in the nation. Most of the offensive production comes through the air, something that Syracuse is just so-so at stopping. The Orange have allowed a 65% completion percentage to their opponents on the year, while also allowing 211 passing yards per contest. The Panthers should move the ball at will over all this Syracuse defense.

Unfortunately for Syracuse, this offense doesn't have what it takes to keep pace in a shootout. The offense only scores 22 points per game and averages 5.2 yards per play. Both of those numbers are among the worst in college football. Syracuse specializes in running the football, but Pitt only allows 2.9 yards per carry to opposing running backs. This is one of the worst matchups in the nation for the Orange.

Why Syracuse Could Cover the Spread

To their credit, the Orange have fielded a fantastic rushing attack this season. Running back Sean Tucker has had an incredible year, posting 1,467 yards and 12 rushing scores. The last time Pitt played a solid rushing attack, Miami Hurricanes running back Jaylan Knighton torched them for 80 yards on 4.7 yards per carry to go along with a couple of scores. A solid rushing performance isn't out of the question here.

Despite their subpar overall record, the Orange have been one of the best teams in the nation against the spread. They are currently 8-3 ATS on the season, making them the fourth-best team in college football at covering. Syracuse is 6-3 ATS when entering the game as underdogs, and an incredible 5-1 when playing at home. This spread may be just a little bit too big for a Syracuse team that has been one of the best at covering the spread.

Final Pittsburgh-Syracuse Prediction & Pick

This is just too many points to give Pittsburgh on the road. Lock in the Orange and watch them hit another cover, even if they don't actually win this game because of an offensive attack that just doesn't put enough points on the board.

Final Pittsburgh-Syracuse Pick: Syracuse Orange: +12.5 (-106)
