Why Utah Could Cover The Spread

USC has been anything but consistent this season. They have allowed over 140 rushing yards per game, and Utah likes to run the ball. If Utah can establish their run game, they might have a good shot to take home the win. USC loves to throw the ball, and Utah has a solid pass defense this season, allowing just 160 yards per game through the air.

USC has the more explosive offense, but if Utah can run the football well and create a turnover or two defensively, they might be able to pull off the cover and even the win. The Utes should have a sense of urgency as a loss to the Trojans on Saturday would mean three losses in a four-game span for Utah.

Why USC Could Cover The Spread

USC might have found something last week. They dominated Colorado on the road, and finally looked like the talented team people expect them to be. If Kedon Slovis can take care of the ball again this week, the Trojans should be able to make plays vs. the Utah defense that has been stingy against the pass at times. Utah also allows over 140 rushing yards per game, so USC might be well-served to give the Utes a heavy dose of the run. If USC can establish balance offensively, they might be too much for Utah to handle. USC, the more talented roster, should take care of this game and move to 4-2 on the season. Utah is 0-4 against the spread this season, and the Trojans will look to make it 0-5.

Final Utah-USC Prediction & Pick

Three points doesn’t seem like much for USC to cover on their home field vs. what looks like could be an inferior opponent. Take the Trojans to cover in Southern California come Saturday night.
