The Indianapolis Colts are one of the hottest teams in the NFL. After starting the season 0-3, they have won nine of 12 games since. That has them sitting at 9-6, and firmly in a wild card spot in the AFC. However, not all of the news is good. It's been reported that the Colts placed starting quarterback Carson Wentz onto the COVID-19 reserve list.

Wentz is having a stellar year for the Colts. One of the biggest issues he has faced throughout his career is being too careless with the ball. Yet, in his first season with the Colts, he has thrown 25 touchdown passes and only six interceptions. That's a far cry from the last couple seasons.

The Colts host the Las Vegas Raiders this weekend. That game will go a long way to deciding who makes the postseason. The Raiders are a game behind the Colts in the standings and need the game just as much as Indianapolis does.

According to The Athletic's Zak Keefer, the Colts have been talking about reaching out to retired quarterback Philip Rivers.

Rivers ended his pro career after last season. It was his first and only season with the Colts following a Hall of Fame career with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers.

Currently, the only other quarterback on the active roster is Sam Ehlinger. Ehlinger is a rookie, taken by Indianapolis in the 6th round of the 2021 NFL Draft. As good as he was at Texas, the Colts clearly do not have much faith in the rookie and are looking for a more steadied hand for such a pivotal game.
