The quarterback position has been somewhat of a revolving door for the Indianapolis Colts ever since Andrew Luck shocked the league by retiring before the start of the 2019 season. Indianapolis hopes that Carson Wentz is the long term answer at QB, after they traded for him from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Last year was a nightmare season for Wentz and Philadelphia and as a result, it left many wondering if Wentz is “broken.” The idea of all of it makes Colts head coach Frank Reich cringe.

Via Kevin Patra of NFL.com, Reich addressed the struggles for Wentz when he was asked if Wentz is indeed “broken” and he foreshadowed a different set of circumstances with the Colts.

“I just cringe when I hear stuff like that, not that a player shouldn't be accountable for poor play on the field,” the coach said Monday. “Carson has to answer to that, and he has answered to it. And until you get out there and prove otherwise, that's what you live with. But I just know that playing the position of quarterback, there are so many factors that go into it. We talked about why the poor play last year, I'm just very confident that he has a team around him. It's just I think the culture fit.” – Frank Reich.

Reich and Wentz had a ton of success together in Philadelphia when the Colts' head coach was helping run the offense along with Doug Pederson. Now, the two will set out to prove that Wentz can be a franchise quarterback yet again.

The foundation with the Colts is a strong one and they have a ton of pieces already in place. Philip Rivers helped guide them to the playoffs in 2020 before retiring in the offseason and the belief is that the Colts are just a quarterback away from being a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Reich and company believe Wentz is the guy and now they will await to see the results.
