Indianapolis Colts coach Frank Reich thinks that quarterback Philip Rivers is going to find a lot of success in Indy because of the team's running game and offensive line. Reich worked with Rivers with the Chargers before, so he has a pretty good understanding of what he brings to the table.

Reich participated in a conference call on Monday and said that it feels like Rivers has been with the team for a while, not just a couple of months. Reich also said he doesn't believe Rivers has fallen off physically, instead hinting that it might be other things that would help him continue his career, like an improved offensive line and stronger running game:

“He’s really gonna benefit from playing behind our line, handing the ball off and not having to throw it 35 times a game,” Reich said via Zak Keefer of The Athletic.

The Chargers also had a strong running game, but it's clear that Reich feels Rivers threw the ball too much.

The Colts have a crowded running back room heading into the 2020 season. Heading into the draft, the Colts had Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines, and Jordan Wilkins on the roster. The Colts also added Jonathan Taylor, who was one of the best Big Ten running backs ever.

With all those weapons on the ground, they could become a run-first team this year, which would really help open up the passing game for Rivers.

The team did add USC wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. during the draft to give Rivers another weapon alongside T.Y. Hilton.
