The Indianapolis Colts are having problems when it comes to kicking in spite of having one of the game's greatest kickers in Adam Vinatieri. He's been performing below par so far, missing plenty of kicks that he should have been able to hit without any issues in previous years.

There have been rumors as to whether the team should replace the veteran kicker since he's been missing too much of his attempts. However, the team was quick to shoot down those rumors, saying that they don't see the field goals they missed as a problem that needs to be sorted out.

Colts free safety Malik Hooker was one of the first to defend the kicker, saying that he's behind Vinatieri the entire way.

“I mean, Adam, he’s my hero on my team,” Hooker told IndyStar. “I can’t speak for anyone else, but I don’t give a damn how many field goals he’s missed or what. That’s Adam Vinatieri, the greatest of all time. I grew up watching him. Anytime he’s out there kicking for my team, I’m always cheering for him.”

Vinatieri has missed five of his 19 field goal attempts so far. He's also botched six of his 20 extra-point attempts this season. Given his low kicking accuracy, the team is understandably looking for a possible replacement. They've invited four kickers in order to get a better look at their abilities. While nothing's still set in stone, this progress might be putting an end to Vinatieri's stay in Indianapolis.

The players may all be behind their kicker, but they cannot stop the team from cutting him if that's the coaching staff's decision.
