Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich is already liking what he's seeing from wide receiver Devin Funchess this offseason.
Funchess is expecting to play a key role in the Colts' offense after signing with the franchise back in March, and Reich and company are hoping that the former second-round pick can take another step towards reaching his potential.
The Carolina Panthers drafted Funchess back in 2015, and during his tenure with the team, he had at least four touchdowns in every season.
And it's clear that Reich is pleased with what he's seeing from Indianapolis' big offseason addition.
From Kevin Hickey of Colts Wire:
Funchess should have a great opportunity to earn the No. 2 receiver spot for the Colts, and putting him opposite TY Hilton would certainly open lots of things up.
If Funchess can build chemistry with quarterback Andrew Luck, it should give the Colts yet another talented offensive playmaker to work with entering next season.
“Very encouraged. We knew right away, you could tell day one that he was smart. (He was) not going to have a problem grasping the system,” Reich told reporters Thursday. “Then it’s just a question of getting used to the way we do things, the way we teach things and then our schemes.”
