Longtime San Diego and Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is now officially a member of the Indianapolis Colts. With Rivers still getting acclimated to playing for another team for the first time in his NFL playing career, while notably attempting to do so during quite the unique offseason, the veteran signal-caller continues to heap praise upon his new Colts teammates—especially rookie running back Jonathan Taylor.

Not only that, but Rivers recently compared Taylor, formerly a standout rusher at the University of Wisconsin, to one of his former Pro Bowl teammates in running back Michael Turner. If Taylor can perform up to the caliber of Turner, the Colts and Rivers are in for a big year in Indianapolis.

However, Taylor won't be forced to carry the workload alone in Indianapolis as the Colts still have starting running back Marlon Mack at their disposal. If Taylor can immediately translate his game to the NFL level as a rookie in 2020, he and Mack can serve as one of the best one-two punches in the entire league.

“It's going to be a tough combo to stop,” Rivers told reporters earlier this week.

Even with Rivers and Taylor on board, things won't be easy for the Colts in 2020 as the AFC South will once again be quite competitive. Outside of the rebuilding Jacksonville Jaguars, the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans are slated to serve as legitimate contenders in the AFC playoff picture. If the Colts are going to sneak into the postseason, Indianapolis will need to overtake the Titans and Texans, which could start with the production of Taylor.
