The Dallas Cowboys are going to have star quarterback Dak Prescott available for Thursday's Week 1 showdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but they'll be without guard Zack Martin because of a positive COVID-19 test.

Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was asked about Martin's absence and what it means for Dallas. Elliott was brutally honest in his assessment:

That's quite the admission right there by Zeke given the talent on the Cowboys' offense, which features Elliott, Prescott, Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb as skill position players. Elliott knows how important Martin is to the running game, and he obviously also plays a key role protecting Prescott.

As noted, Connor McGovern will replace Martin in the starting lineup. McGovern having prior starting experience is a plus, so hopefully the downgrade isn't too steep, but he's still no Zack Martin.

Dallas has a tall task ahead of them starting this 2021 season after a disappointing 2020 season. The Cowboys are trying to wash the bad taste of that 6-10 2020 campaign out of their mouth, but having to go up against Tom Brady and a loaded Buccaneers roster is quite the way to try to do that. The reigning Super Bowl champions are running it back and will have an elite defense to throw at Dallas.
