The Dallas Cowboys made a big change this offseason. They fired long time head coach Jason Garrett. In response, they replaced him with former Green Bay Packers coach, Mike McCarthy.

Meanwhile, Garrett moved on to become the offensive coordinator for the New York Giants.

Garrett was in the Dallas organization for a very long time. So unsurprisingly, a lot of people had different feelings about this.

For quite a few players, Garrett was the only head coach they ever had in the NFL.

That includes superstar running back Ezekiel Elliott.

According to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, Elliott spoke out on the situation.

“I think it will be weird, something that I’m not used to,” Elliott said. ” But change is hard, but sometimes good. Sometimes you need change. We’ll see what we have going for us.”

That's a pretty obvious and diplomatic answer, if we're being honest. Elliott said the right thing here.

There is every chance Elliott is devastated he lost his coach, and every chance he's elated. However, either way he probably feels the same. Sometimes, change is needed. For the Cowboys, that was absolutely the case.

With Garrett, Dallas had a few great seasons. They never seemed to be able to get over the hump though. At some point, being just “good” is not good enough.

It appears ownership recognized that and felt that something needed to change. The most obvious starting point was the head coaching spot.

Besides, there is nothing Elliott can do about it now. No matter how he feels on the situation, this is the reality of it. He appears ready to go for McCarthy and company though.
