Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was among the latest player to contract an injury during training camp. The team's defensive rotation could suffer a big blow with the former Oklahoma Sooner suffering an apparent leg injury.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport tweeted the recent developments on McCoy:

McCoy is expected to provide a big boost to the defensive frontline of the Cowboys for the upcoming season. He was once a proven contributor for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he stayed for the majority of his career from 2010 to 2018.

His solid play led to him garner a second-team All-Pro selection in 2016, three-consecutive first-team All-Pro inclusions from 2012-2014, and six-straight Pro Bowl appearances from 2012-2017.

On May 20, 2019, McCoy was released by the Buccaneers after spending nine seasons with the team. On June 3, 2019, McCoy found a new home and signed with the Carolina Panthers.

His tenure wouldn't last long as he eventually made his way to Dallas and signed a three-year contract with the Cowboys during the offseason. He has recorded a total of 235 total tackles, 99 assists, and 59.5 sacks in a span of 10-year playing career.

His absence would put sophomore Trysten Hill as the only listed defensive tackle in the Cowboys' roster. The team will have to secure the services of other available players in the market if McCoy will be sidelined for an extended period of time.

Despite his injury, Dallas still has a formidable defensive line remaining for the upcoming season with the likes of defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, nose tackle Dontari Poe, and safety Xavier Woods, among others.
