Following an impressive rookie campaign that saw Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott lead his team to a playoff berth and NFL Rookie of the Year honors. However, he took a significant step back this past season with him receiving the brunt of the criticism for the franchise's shortcomings on the field.

In the months that have followed, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been extremely supportive of his young quarterback with the belief that he can bounce back in a major way in 2018. According to Todd Archer of ESPN, Jones believes that can be done through an offensive game plan that is more free-flowing for the 24-year-old.

There is a strong belief from the organization that Prescott is the franchise quarterback for the long haul despite taking a step back last season. He had finished the 2017 campaign with 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, which was nine thrown more than his rookie year. However, there were other factors that contributed to the team's lack of success with star running back Ezekiel Elliott being suspended for six games, All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith dealing with injuries, and an oftentimes predictable offensive game plan.
Prescott does have his fair share of blame for these offensive issues, but it went further than just own individual play on the field. That said, this fall on his shoulders to be a more of an effective quarterback under center by leading the team with his arm at times and putting them in scoring opportunities.
This offseason could be an opportunity for the Cowboys to also build a more competent offense around Prescott with more weapon at the skilled positions. It is also another summer for him to improve his skill set to become a more efficient passer down the field and better decision maker. With the organization behind him, Prescott has a chance to bounce back in a major way in 2018.
