Less than 48 hours after the Dallas Cowboys lost their prized QB Dak Prescott after a gruesome ankle injury against the New York Giants on Sunday, the Cowboys have made a move to beef up their QB spot. Now that 32-year old Andy Dalton will be pushed to the spotlight to spearhead Dallas' offense, the team wasted no time searching for another back-up.

Per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Cowboys have picked up QB Garrett Gilbert from the Cleveland Browns practice squad to add to their current roster. Gilbert will most likely be the Cowboys' QB3 behind Ben DiNucci and their new QB1 in Andy Dalton.

Gilbert has been quite the journeyman in his time in the NFL. Dallas is already the playmaker's seventh destination since entering the league in 2014 as a sixth round pick by the Los Angeles Rams. He spent the remainder of his rookie year as a member of the New England Patriots' practice squad where he earned his first and only Super Bowl ring in Super Bowl XLIX.

The 29-year old also had a successful albeit brief stint in the Alliance of American Football league last year as a member of the Orlando Apollos where he led the entire league with 2,152 passing yards and a 99.1 passer rating.

Gilbert will be a good option for head coach Mike McCarthy as the Prescott-less Cowboys look to continue their run back to the post-season. The Cowboys (2-3) are somehow still top of their division coming into their home game against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6.
