One of the spookiest holidays is just around the corner: Halloween. This is the only day everyone gets a pass and is allowed to look as insane as they want to. Through the years, people have gone costume-crazy and have gone all-out with their ‘fits – and that includes some of our favorite NBA and NFL players. If you're running out of time and ideas, here's a collection of some of the craziest Halloween costumes from the world's biggest athletes.

1. Cartoon crazy

One of the most fun and kid-friendly approaches to your costume would be to bring to life some of the biggest cartoon flicks both old and new. If you're a kid, this should always do the trick and get you a bag full of candy and if you're a grown up adult, well, I guess it works too. Here are some of the most noteworthy cartoon-themed costumes from our favorite basketball and football stars.

New York Giants Cornerback Logan Ryan pulled off an ‘incredible' costume for Halloween as he dressed up as Frozone from the Incredibles 2 film. Obviously, you have to go all out and strike a pose because why not?

If you're feeling quite shy but you still want to make a statement, you can always do what New Orleans Pelicans swingman JJ Redick did and put on a Lego mask. Just make sure you commit to it and put on a vest and even some Lego gloves just like JJ did.

Toy Story is undoubtedly one of the biggest cartoon franchises out there so coming into your neighborhood trick or treat dressed like Buzz and the rest of the gang will always get you your neighbor's nod of approval. Check out two-time MVP Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors along with his family dress up as your favorite Toy Story characters.

Although little Canon looks totally adorable as a baby version of Woody, who can forget the time when New York Giants QB Daniel Jones had us all fooled when he dressed up like Sherriff Woody Pride. Thing is, Jones didn't have to try that hard since he already looks like a real life version of Woody, even without the hat or the vest.

2. Couple costumes

What better way to pop-in to a Halloween party than you and your significant other pulling off a couple costume for the books?

Check out Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady and his wife Gisele dressing up as your favorite brunch snack:

His former coach Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots proves that not only the young ones can dress up for the holiday as he brought out his inner pirate with his wife Debby. Arrr!

If you're feeling kinda funky, you can go with three-time NBA champion Dwyane Wade and his Wife Gabrielle Union as they dressed up as R&G duo Milli Vanilli. Just make sure you bring out some Grammys too to complete the look. A little choreography won't hurt either.

3. Pop culture reference

Speaking of music references, one of the hippest ways to go about your Halloween drip would be to bring in a dash of pop culture to the mix. Dressing up like your favorite icons from the music scene or even characters from both the small and big screens is a foolproof plan to get everyone talking about your costume.

And, one of the best to pull off the pop culture reference is none other than Seattle Seahawks superstar Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara. The Wilsons dressed up as The Carters and won the hearts of fans. The photo really speaks for itself.

When you talk about music icons especially in hip hop, you can't not talk about NWA. Two-time NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas paid homage to the iconic hip hop group when he came as Compton's own Eazy-E. Thomas has a ton of notable Halloween fits but IT dressing up as Eazy-E is definitely a classic.

You can also go with Hollywood references just like Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff did. Goff had an impeccable B-Rad impersonation when he came as the character from the cult classic from 2003 Malibu's  Most Wanted. If you're doing this, please pull out the pinky.

4. Go spooky

If all else fails, just go with something scary. It is Halloween so it's the perfect time to spook the heck out of the party.

Mr. Curry makes it back to our list when he brought out all the tricks to dress up like Jigsaw from the ‘Saw' series. Steph even made sure that he entered the arena on a bicycle and even played the eerie soundtrack from the film. Major props.

LeBron James also didn't let his fans down. The Los Angeles Laker superstar dressed up as Pennywise from the movie ‘It' for Halloween and it's as scary as you imagine it to be. The four-time champ had a couple of red balloons tied to his arm just like the creepy character.

Another superstar from Los Angeles also went costume-crazy as Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers dressed up as the Night King from the hit HBO series ‘Game of Thrones'. Man, imagine walking by the hallway and passing by George as the chief white walker. If you can pull this off, then you're definitely not going home empty handed.

If you're 6'6″ and weigh 250lbs, you can also come as FrankenGronk just like Rob Gronkowski of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

5. Come as your favorite athlete

If time is really running out then you can simply dress up as your favorite athlete. Just make sure you go all out and don't hold back.

Here's an example of going all out. Check out Houston Rockets' Russell Westbrook dress up like his former teammate Steven Adams of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Brodie even put on some of Adams' arm tatts and drew a full beard. And yes, that's Adams pulling off his inner Joker.

If you can't come as your favorite athlete, then come as your favorite coach just like New England Patriots' Julian Edelman as he dressed up with his long-time coach Bill Belichick. The three-time Super Bowl champ made sure to go as detailed as possible in his costume – from the cut out hoodie, the face paint, the headset and even Belichick's signature pose.

If all else fails, you can dress up as your favorite quarterback. That should always do the trick. Here's a couple of kids dressing up as the league's brightest quarterbacks Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs:
