San Francisco Giants star Kris Bryant was clearly emotional reminiscing about his time with the Chicago Cubs in his return to Wrigley Field on Friday. Things only got more emotional when the Cubs honored Bryant before the game with a touching video tribute and some special gifts.

Is it getting dusty in here or what:

The Cubs traded Kris Bryant along with fellow stars Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez and Craig Kimbrel, among others, before this season's trade deadline. Five years after breaking their 108-year World Series drought, Chicago is entering a rebuilding phase.

Bryant was a centerpiece of the Cubs' recent run of dominance. He took baseball by storm right away in 2015, winning Rookie of the Year as Chicago made a surprise run to the NLCS.

The following year, Bryant made his second straight All-Star Game and won National League MVP. The Cubs won a league-best 103 games and then ended their curse, erasing a 3-1 deficit against the Cleveland Indians in the World Series. Bryant had a number of huge hits throughout the playoff run.

Chicago went to another NLCS in 2017, but then the team started to falter after that. Bryant himself dealt with some injury issues, though he made two more All-Star Games in 2019 and 2021.

With his free agency approaching and the Cubs falling apart ahead of the deadline, the franchise decided to trade their do-it-all star, as well as those other players. This officially was the end of an era.

Bryant hasn't ruled out a return to the Cubs in the future, but for now, fans can only reminisce on what was.
