Chicago Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger is red-hot amid his name being discussed in MLB trade deadline rumors. Speaking on what it feels like to constantly see his future being discussed via trade, Bellinger got quite candid, reports The Athletic's Patrick Mooney.

“I’ve never been in this situation before. So I don’t know what to say, or what not to say. So I’m just going to say I’m going to focus on the game.”

A very honest response from Cody Bellinger in regards to seeing his name constantly embroiled in trade talks. Regardless of the rumors off of the field, it is obviously not having an impact on Bellinger between the foul lines.

In the month of July, Bellinger is hitting .452 with seven home runs, 18 runs scored, 22 RBIs, and a 1.270 OPS in 19 games. These are elite numbers that certainly indicate why teams are interested in acquiring the outfielder. Still, the Cubs still have a fighting chance at the postseason, so they could definitely opt to keep him passed the trade deadline. Bellinger himself believes the Cubs are good enough to find themselves playing October baseball.

“I see the talent. I’ve been around some good teams. We got the right guys in this clubhouse. I believe it.”

Bellinger has been on top of the baseball world with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and thus has some credibility when determining good teams or not. Whether this assessment is enough to keep Cody Bellinger on the Cubs will remain to be seen, but expect him to remain a cool customer in the meantime.
