Kris Bryant was emotional when he split ways with the Chicago Cubs last season when the franchise shipped him to the San Francisco Giants. Now that he's a free agent, could the former Cubs reunite with his old team and return to his old stomping grounds of Wrigley Field?

In a recent The Baseball Insiders episode by Robert Murray and Mark Carman, Murray dropped a highly intriguing nugget, saying that a source told him that Bryant is not eliminating the Cubs as his next destination (h/t Brett Taylor of Bleacher Nation).

Murray said he was happy that Kris Bryant had come up because, “That is something I’ve been working on behind the scenes. I was told by somebody who would know Chicago: ‘I would not rule it out.’ And it’s been on my mind ever since. I’m tracking that one …. I do think Kris Bryant going back to Chicago is a realistic scenario. And the number you threw out – 27, 28 million bucks – makes a whole lotta sense …. ”

Well, MLB is currently on a lockout, so any offers for Bryant will have to wait. Nevertheless, it's not surprising to know that numerous teams have him on their radars, per Jon Heyman of the MLB Network.

Mets, Angels and Padres are among many teams to have shown interest in star free agent Kris Bryant, whose marketing is now percolating, Mariners, Phillies, Rockies, Astros among others who have checked in.

Bryant, who will turn 30 in January 2022, played seven and a half seasons with the Cubs and was instrumental in the team's curse-breaking World Series title run 2016.
