The Dallas Cowboys are set to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in their final preseason matchup on Sunday. It should be an interesting game, as it is the last chance Mike McCarthy and the coaching staff have to evaluate the team.

The offense will be electric this year, but the defense is a bit of a concern. Dallas has a few solid prospects though which bodes well for the future. However, these guys need to step up immediately if the Cowboys hope to be competitive throughout the season. This last preseason game against the Jaguars could be a nice momentum builder for this unit.

Due to the importance of the superstars, we'll likely just catch a glimpse of the starters on Sunday. This is a perfect opportunity for any backups to make their case. Look for the tight end position to be a nail-biter as both Blake Jarwin and Dalton Schultz could be in for a big game. Ceedee Lamb is out due to COVID-19, which means it's time for a depth receiver to shine. Meanwhile, Ezekiel Elliott has nothing to prove, making it a great opportunity for Tony Pollard. With that said, here are four bold predictions for the Cowboys' preseason matchup against the Jaguars.

4. Cowboys defense shows up

This is a huge opportunity for the Cowboys' defense to increase their confidence heading into the regular season. The Jaguars are an incredibly young team that's still adjusting to the professional level. This is the exact type of challenge the Cowboys need to better prepare themselves. Keep an eye on the entire defensive unit, as several players could be in for a big game.

3. The tight end group plays well

Blake Jarwin should win the starting job, but Dalton Schultz played well when his number was called upon last year. In fact, both tight ends have looked solid throughout training camp and preseason so far, giving Dallas a nice one-two punch in the position. Look for Jarwin and Schultz to play a big role on Sunday as the coaching staff figures out who deserves the starting job.

2. Cedrick Wilson impresses

CeeDee Lamb is out with COVID-19 but it wasn't like he was going to play against the Jaguars anyway. Even so, Cedrick Wilson will have a chance to separate himself amongst the crowd of depth receivers. The starting roles belong to Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup. So Cedrick Wilson will likely serve as the fourth receiver on the depth chart. With that said, look for Wilson to make some noise on Sunday.

1. Tony Pollard shines

Ezekiel Elliott has the starting role locked down even though he was less than impressive a season ago. Tony Pollard is a strong backup who has a ton of potential. If he plays well enough, Pollard could carve out a more prominent role, giving the Dallas Cowboys a solid running back duo in the backfield. Elliott might not even play on Sunday, leaving Pollard plenty of opportunities to prove himself.
