Megan Mullally, the accomplished actress and comedian known for her iconic roles in “Will & Grace” and “Parks and Recreation,” caught the attention of her fellow cast members of the upcoming comedy “Dicks: The Musical” with a chilling revelation that was taken rather lightly. Mullally, who is set to star in the film, candidly disclosed to Bowen Yang that “you guys are going to get death threats,' during the taping of the final scene of the movie.
“Dicks: The Musical,” is A24's first ever movie musical which has led fans raising their eyebrows with the unexpected collaboration of directors, producers and cast. The movie features the producers of the critically acclaimed The Greatest Showman, the director of the satirical comedy Borat, and is headed by A24 whose studio has been known for its horror and heartfelt movies, which has left people conflicted to the possibilities this movie could leave.
The movie's premise involves two men who find out that they are twins and plan on reuniting their parents back together. The plot seems simple enough but with the pizzazz and flare the movie brings with stars like actress Megan Mullally, Grammy award-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion as well as comedian Bowen Yang and a musical, the film is more than just the plot it offers.
Article Continues BelowDuring the movie premiere of “Dicks: The Musical,” Bowen Yang, who plays a queer version of “God” in the film (while holding an inflatable penis), mentions that during their final shoot which was a song called (spoiler) “God Is a F****t,” co-actor Megan Mullally says “We're all going to get death threats!” Yang mentioned this jokingly as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
“There was a moment when we were shooting the final scene, doing take after take of ‘God Is a F—-t,' and Megan Mullally went over to one of the boys and said, ‘You guys are going to get death threats,'” Yang said, still clutching the blow-up penis. “And then she looked at me and said, ‘We're all going to get death threats!'”
Surely, many of the scenes, themes, and songs in this movie musical may cause controversy, but there is no denying its possible comedic impact in the months it will follow once it drops.
