Miami Dolphins running back Frank Gore was carted off of the field with a foot injury during his team's loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Gore will undergo an MRI on Monday to see if he suffered any ligament damage.

The injury is currently being ruled a sprain.

Gore carried the ball five times for 14 yards before exiting the game.

On the year, Gore has rushed for 722 yards, averaging 4.6 yards per carry. However, Gore is without a touchdown, and assuming he does not play in one of the final two games of the season, this will mark the first time in his career that he did not score a touchdown in a season.

The Dolphins signed Gore as a free agent back in March.

The 35-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Miami, was originally selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round (65th pick overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft.

He rushed for 608 yards and three scores during his rookie campaign and then broke out during his second season, racking up 1,695 yards and eight touchdowns while catching 61 passes for 485 yards and a score en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Gore spent the first 10 years of his career with the 49ers, making five trips to Honolulu and totaling eight 1,000-yard seasons.

He then signed a three-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts in March 2015, having one 1,000-yard campaign.

With the loss to the Vikings on Sunday, the Dolphins fell to 7-7, making their playoff hopes very slim.
