The Miami Dolphins acquired cornerback Aqib Talib in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday, but according to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, it's not clear if Talib will even report to the team.

Of course, whether or not Talib reports does not matter all that much.

The 33-year-old is on the injured reserve list for the rest of the season and is a free agent at the end of the year, so he won't even be playing a game for the Dolphins anyway.

Miami strictly made the deal because the Rams, who were merely trying to dump Talib's salary in order to free up money to extend fellow cornerback Jalen Ramsey, included a fifth-round draft pick.

The Dolphins will be sending a future seventh-rounder to Los Angeles in return.

Talib played in just five games this season, logging 14 tackles before going down to a rib injury.

The Cleveland native joined the Rams in 2018 via trade with the Denver Broncos. Injuries limited him in his first year with Los Angeles, as well, as Talib appeared in just eight contests last season.

Talib, who played his collegiate football at the University of Kansas, was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round (20th pick overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.

He spent the first four-and-a-half years of his career with the Buccaneers before being dealt to the New England Patriots midway through the 2012 campaign. He spent a season-and-a-half with the Patriots, making his first Pro Bowl in 2013.

Talib then linked up with the Denver Broncos in 2014 and made four more Pro Bowl appearances with the club, including a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2016.
