The Deshaun Watson rumors have been heating up again over the last week, with the Miami Dolphins right in the middle of them. It's an interesting dynamic given the Dolphins' investment in quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

To his credit, Dolphins head coach Brian Flores has publicly backed Tua to the media and done it in front of the team as well. For that, the young quarterback is grateful.

Via ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques:

“I think it means a lot with it coming from the head coach,” Tagovailoa, the 2020 No. 5 overall draft pick, said Wednesday. “The support that I have from him and from the team, it means a lot. But for me, I'm just focused literally on trying to get our guys ready for next week.”

The Dolphins have been rumored to be the “frontrunner” for Watson, but they don't want to pay anything near what the Houston Texans are asking in exchanged for the embattled star. Watson is embroiled in a legal scandal after 22 women accused him of sexual misconduct. 10 of these woman have filed criminal complaints. With so much uncertainty surrounding Watson's future, trading for him would be a huge gamble.

That's especially true given Miami has a promising young quarterback in Tagovailoa trying to break out. While Tua didn't have the best rookie season, there's no reason to give up on him just yet. The 2020 No. 5 overall pick has a ton of talent and could very easily put it all together. Flores praised the work he did in training camp and has high hopes.

If the Dolphins youngster bombs this season and there's positive clarity on Watson's future next season, perhaps then Miami will step up to the plate with a big trade offer. For now, though, the Dolphins should ride with Tua and see where he can take them.
