Even before Electronic Arts had the opportunity to reveal much of the game, we now have a release window for the upcoming EA Sports College Football 25, thanks to The Pat McAfee Show.

One segment of the show's April 1, 2024, episode was dedicated to the upcoming college sports simulation video game. In this segment, Pat McAfee had ESPN College Gameday Kirk Herbstreit guest on his show, who was just all too willing to reveal when fans could expect the game to come out.

Herbstreit, who will serve as the voice of the upcoming EA Sports College Football 25 game, revealed that the game will be coming out in July 2024. That's just a few months off from today, so it's a surefire game that will burn the summer days away.

Herbstreit also revealed that “there are a variety of voices” that fans can expect to hear in the game, with “different broadcast booths for different games that you play in.” He also described the work to be “tedious” but also “rewarding.”

Just a few weeks ago, Pat and his co-hosts also spilled the beans on who will be included in the aptly named “Pat McAfee Pack” DLC for WWE 2K24. He ended up revealing the details before WWE, 2K, or Visual Concepts, so it's very believable that what's been said in today's episode must also be a true story for EA Sports College Football 25.

The episode also covered other summer-related college activities, such as a segment about the ongoing March Madness NCAA Basketball tournament, with the hosts praising Zach Edey for his recent performance.

Pat McAfee and friends also discussed the recently kicked-off United Football League and even had Jake Bates on the show, who just did a back-to-back field goal in their match against St. Louis Battlehawks.

Madden Ultimate Team also recently released a 99 OVR Pat McAfee card in Madden 24, which also made an appearance in the show.

EA Sports College Football returns after over a decade

EA Sports College Football 25 will see the return of the college sports game for over a decade, with the most recent release dating all the way back to July 2013. This year's release will be the twenty-first release in what is now a thirty-year-old franchise. Officially announced in February 2021, EA promises to reveal more details about the game in May 2024.

However, some fans have raised concerns about the quality of the upcoming game after EA announced that EA Tiburon, the developer of the infamous Madden NFL series, will helm the development of this new game.

The series originally stopped when former college football players sued Electronic Arts for the use of their names, images, and likenesses without their consent and without compensation, leading to a massive settlement outside of court. This was due to the NCAA's former practice of not compensating its athletes for licensed works. As part of the settlement, EA announced stopping the development of future college football games.

Fast forward to 2021, the NCAA reversed its former policy following a court ruling, which led to EA Sports College Football returning, as EA can now license not only the NCAA but also the names, likenesses, and images of the players competing in the league.

This is a landmark for college sports games which might just see a resurgence, not only for college football but also for the equally popular NCAA March Madness series, which ceased production in 2010.
