The Philadelphia Eagles invested significant resources in their secondary this offseason. Philadelphia spent their first two draft picks on secondary players – CB Quinyon Mitchell from Toledo and safety Cooper DeJean from Iowa. They join Darius Slay, Avonte Maddox, James Bradberry, and C.J. Gardner-Johnson to create quite the fearsome secondary. Recently, one member of the Eagles' secondary received praise from A.J. Brown, and it wasn't any of those players.

Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown spoke with the media earlier today. Brown spoke on several topics, including a surprising stud in Philadelphia's secondary.

“For a guy that has not played football for a year, he looks like he's been playing non-stop,” Brown said CB Isaiah Rodgers. “I'm going to give praise to him, give him his flowers. You can tell he loves football. He's happy to be back, you can tell, he's jumping all over the field.”

Brown was clearly moved by his teammate's love of the game and can-do attitude.

“He literally just told me at walkthroughs that he's going to have two picks today,” Brown said. “I told him not against me but go get 'em though.”

Rodgers was previously released by the Colts after he was suspended for the entire 2023 NFL season for betting on games. Philadelphia signed Rodgers and kept him on the roster until now. It looks like a great move so far.

Considering that he's been away from the NFL for a year, Rodgers is unlikely to command a starting job with the Eagles.

However, having someone like Rodgers around as a depth piece is an incredible luxury to have.

As usual, the Eagles' roster is looking stacked from top to bottom. Now they just need to deliver on their potential this fall.

Earlier in the offseason, the NFL launched a tampering investigation to determine if the Eagles or Falcons broke league rules at the start of free agency.

The Eagles are being investigated related to their signing of Saquon Barkley, while the Falcons are being investigated for their signing of Kirk Cousins.

The league took notice of how quickly these free agents signed with new teams. The NFL is suspicious that each team may have violated tampering period rules and gained an advantage in negotiations with these players.

ESPN reported earlier this week that a ruling on these cases could come as early as this week.

“A resolution in the alleged free agent tampering cases of the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles is likely to come this week, per league sources,” Schefter wrote on ESPN. “The Falcons have been investigated for the contact they may or may not have had with then-free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins before he signed with Atlanta. The Eagles have been investigated for the contact they may or may not have had with then-free agent running back Saquon Barkley. The NFL has spoken to various members of both organizations.”

The report notes that the Falcons seem to be in more trouble than the Eagles.

“One league source indicated that the Falcons' alleged transgressions are considered more significant, and the discipline is expected to be more severe for Atlanta,” Schefter wrote.

Hopefully the NFL announces its decision soon.
