When the Philadelphia Eagles traded Carson Wentz back in February to the Indianapolis Colts, it was an official changing of the guard at quarterback in Philly.

Five months later and it took until Monday for the Eagles to finally get rid of what is believed to be the last sign of Wentz in Philadelphia.

It's a great procrastination job by Philly, leaving a Wentz banner hanging at the stadium five months after the trade was completed but it would appear that the banner is as good as gone now.

What were the thoughts of Eagles fans driving by Lincoln Financial Field since March and day after day still seeing the banner of the now Colts QB hanging on their stadium? One would imagine they weren't thrilled and usually we see these signs get taken down almost immediately after a departure.

The Eagles struggled mightily in 2020 and made the change to Jalen Hurts late in the season at quarterback. This offseason, not only did they get rid of then head coach Doug Pederson, they parted ways with Wentz, too amid growing frustrations internally and from the fan base. Now both Wentz and the Eagles will get a fresh start.

There's a new regime in Philly and Hurts should have every opportunity to prove he can be the franchise quarterback moving forward for the Eagles.

Hopefully they start by getting a Hurts banner up quickly at Lincoln Financial Field. That would or could be a start in the right direction to show their support for the young, mobile quarterback out of Oklahoma.
