It was a special night for Alabama football fans, as Bryce Young won the coveted Heisman Trophy. This is the second year in a row that a ‘Bama player has won the Heisman. Last year, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith won the prestigious award thanks in large part to his excellent play.

DeVonta Smith was in attendance during Bryce Young's Heisman Trophy awarding ceremony. Afterwards, the Eagles wide receiver tweeted out a simple, congratulatory message for his former teammate.

This wasn't the only words Smith said to Young though. The Alabama Football Twitter account shared a heartwarming video of the current Eagles WR congratulating Young for his achievement.

While Smith and Young were teammates, the two barely played with each other. Bryce Young came into the Alabama program last year, and served as the backup to Mac Jones. DeVonta Smith, on the other hand, played his final season for the Crimson Tide last year, before being drafted by the Eagles in the first round of the NFL draft.

Smith and Young are only the third and fourth players to win the Heisman Trophy. Young was the first Alabama quarterback to ever win the award, while Smith was only the fourth wide receiver to ever win the same award. In a way, the two are similar: both were doubted early on, but proved their detractors wrong by winning the biggest award in college football.

Young has a long ways to go before he'll be able to join the Eagles wide receiver in the big leagues: he isn't eligible to be drafted until 2023. There's a lot of potential in this guy, though, and it will be interesting to see how his career pans out.
